Day 9:
Today started out as a very relaxing morning, sitting outside sipping coffee and watching people walk their dogs and children.
Hailie and Manuel left so Hailie can get a hair cut and nail fill before college starts. Daniel and I decided to go get the car washed and do a little grocery shopping…and this is when things went wrong. I’m standing in the bread isle and I’m thinking about getting Hailie’s favorite “Everything Bagel” bagels then it dawned on me, she won’t be with us long enough to eat them in the RV, as Daniel came down the isle the tears started to flow and all I could do was fall into his arms and cry. The tears kept coming, my glasses are getting fogged and now I’m trying to wipe the tears before anyone sees me. Thankfully no one came down the isle as I composed my self and cried inside until we got back in the car. If this is how I’m going to be I don’t want to be around myself Monday when we drop her off. I’m a mess.
Now Daniel on the other hand is calm and composed until I asked him how he’s gong to handle letting his baby go. He said “the driving away will be hard” as he holds back the tears.
As you can see the shopping exhausted Daniel so he took a nap in his chair. Retirement is rough. I love to see him relax and rest because he’s never done that before.
The rest of the day was good, we all took a walk to the lake and watched Lyla chase a goose, Roxy saw a goat for the first time and wouldn’t stop barking. I guess we’re not the only ones seeing new sights.
As we all sat at the lake you can hear the thunder in the distance which also causes the dogs to bark.
Later we sat by the fire while listening to a band here at camp that is playing all 80’s Rock. It was great to hear all the old party songs. “High Ridge Band” was their name.
Manuel said he hates the band. When I asked “why?” he said “It’s old people music”. Thank you Manuel.
See you down the road.
