Day 11:
And then there were two. Two people again just the way we started 35 years ago. 14 years of praying for children, 22 years of raising children and now they’re grown and on their own. I have no doubt Hailie is ready for college and living on her own, I’m just not so sure I’m ready. And Madi, she’s adulting very well. No worries there.
It was exciting arriving at Stevenson with all the welcome signs and other students helping unload your car. We also stayed and helped Hailie decorate her room along with her sweet roommate Mallory and her family. Of course by the end of the day, the tears came so I just prayed over them and left before the sobbing began.
After dropping Hailie off, taking Manuel to the airport and coming home Daniel and I just sat on the porch quietly. Almost shell shocked at the silence. Thoughts of “what do I do?” kept playing in my mind.
I’ve had lots of jobs but being Madi and Hailie’s Mama was the best job ever and I know being their Mama never ends but being with them every day is over.
I had one mom tell me today after she dropped off her child “I feel like I might die”. I understand her broken heart but I also know this is just the beginning for all of us.
I’m excited for what the future holds. So many adventures, sights, and journeys. New places, new faces and so many stories to share. I’ll call my girls, FaceTime them and drive and fly to them should they ever need me. But mostly, I’ll be praying for them because God has them in the palm of His hand and that gives me peace.
See you down the road. #godsgotthis #stevensonuniversity #collegeroadtrip #thisisretirement #livingourdream #dreamsdocometrue #ourwindsofchange #thejourney
