Day 24:

Today we stayed in this morning took the dogs for a long walk since we knew we would be gone until late tonight. Our neighbor has a table set up for the 13 soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Daniel sat inside and read while I sat outside with the dogs and painted while it rained.

I had a bit of an emotional morning as I desperately want to hug and kiss my girls. I miss them so much. I feel like I have empty arms. As I’ve been grieving being a full time mom I often think of my friends and family that have lost children. I truly can’t imagine your pain and never ending longing to hold your children. My heart and prayers go out to you continually. I don’t take for granted my time with my girls because I know time is fleeting. Of course we miss Brandon also so we sent him a video of us singing a Britney Spear’s song which we know he loved.

After our slow morning we headed out to Gloucester, Massachusetts where the movie “The Perfect Storm” was filmed. If you haven’t seen it, watch it and turn up the speakers. We went the the “Crow’s Nest” where the town waited to see if their men would make it home safely. We walked along the boardwalk with the statue of “The Fisherman” which also has the names of all the fisherman lost at sea.

There is also a statue of a wife and children. “The memorial serves as a testimonial to what wives, mothers, sisters, and children of fishermen of the world have endured because their men chose to be on the water. They had no choice but to stand on rock, to be on land.”

Flowers grow like crazy out here. They had beautiful flower gardens on the boardwalk. It was very moving to see all the American Flags. So much beauty and nice people in Gloucester.

A local recommended “Tonna Restaurant” for dinner. I had lobster and Daniel had swordfish. It was delicious.

Our final drive was to Manchester By The Sea, another beautiful beach town that a movie was filmed in named “Manchester By The Sea”. Gorgeous big homes there.

Now it’s “so good to be home”.

See you down the road.
